Buck Review – Essence Magazine

Buck reviewed in Essence Magazine (September, 2013). Short but sweet:

Asante is the Voice of a New Generation … I can’t wait to hear the audio version of Buck: A Memoir (Spiegel & Grau, $25). Splicing original rap lyrics with his own poetic prose, MK Asante, a Morgan State University creative writing professor, reflects on a tough childhood growing up in North Philadelphia, aka Killadelphia. In the end, we discover, it is a love of words that saves Asante from the streets. And you will love nearly everything about Buck. I did.”
